Fund manager abrdn has appointed Rene Buehlmann as the sole CEO of its investments business.
Buehlmann will be supported by Peter Branner, the firm’s new chief investment officer who joined in May 23 and Xavier Meyer, chief client officer, who oversees strategy in the UK and the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions, as they focus on accelerating growth across the business globally.
After joining the company in 2021 as CEO of Asia-Pacific, Buehlmann became the co-CEO of the group’s investment business in June 2021. He will continue to lead the company’s Asia-Pacific business and be based in Asia.
“There is nobody more equipped, passionate or experienced [than Buehlmann],” says Stephen Bird, abrdn’s CEO. “His focus on our clients is second to none. [And] his appointment will allow us to focus the business on where we have strength, scale and undeniable capability for the future.”
